You might be wondering, what is National Apprenticeships week…? Here goes:

What is National Apprenticeship Week?

National Apprenticeship week aims to raise awareness for apprenticeships across the UK. Highlighting how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and employers to develop a workforce with future-ready skills. It also aims to celebrate the many benefits that apprenticeships bring to employers, individuals and the wider economy.

What is the National Apprenticeships Week 2022 theme?

The National Apprenticeships Week 2022 theme this year is “Build The Future” which aims to encourage individuals to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for a successful career. Providing them with the platform to excel, be empowered and grow with the support of employers.

Now that we’ve covered what National Apprenticeships Week is and what the theme is, let’s hear from Millie Wilkinson as she reveals what it’s truly like to be a marketing apprentice.

Why did you choose an apprenticeship?

I chose to do an apprentice after doing my first year of sixth form and deciding that sixth form wasn’t for me.

What are the benefits of an apprenticeship?

The benefits of an apprenticeship are you’re gaining experience and a qualification while also getting paid too. The experience and being able to practically apply what you’re learning is so valuable. Also, being surrounded by people in the same career who can help and explain things in different ways is definitely an advantage when you’re struggling with some work.

Why would you recommend an apprenticeship to others?

I would recommend an apprenticeship to others because its such a great experience and in my opinion a positive one as most employers want people with experience and qualifications.

What skills have you gained during your apprenticeship?

Over the course of my apprenticeship, I’ve gained a variety of different skills such as resilience and problem solving. I’ve also learnt a lot of skills that are relevant to my role such as how to plan campaigns and setting realistic goals.

Why did you choose Whyy? Change as you apprenticeship training provider?

I chose Whyy? Change to complete my apprenticeship as I really liked the approach of having regular weekly contact with my tutor to help with any issues or questions that I have. Also, alongside the apprenticeship qualifications I’m also gaining my CIM Level 4 qualification which is unique as not many other training providers offer both.

Millie also shared her 3 top tips for aspiring marketers too! Watch the video below, for more apprenticeship advice head over to our YouTube channel.
