Who is Ray Byrne?
Ray is the CEO of Whyy? Change and is passionate about helping businesses grow by teaching people to think differently to ultimately transform them. Ray has completed his MBA Masters Degree in Business and Management and holds a Lean 6-Sigma black belt from the American Society of Quality (ASQ).
His drive for transformational change stems from over 20 years of experience working for a number of large manufacturing firms in senior leadership roles. A self-described whiteboard and post-it note enthusiast, Ray is committed to improving the methods and processes businesses follow in order to achieve success.
Ray’s 6 business tips
Leadership
- Be curious about learning any way you can. Be that podcasts, video or even the old ways still work. Whyy? not pick up a book. I’ve just added to my reading list the story telling of McDonalds, Walmart and Chrysler, and Warren Buffett. Hope springs eternal. Just need to finish off the works of Jocko Willink and Chris Hirst.
- Re-learning is the only way to go. We are all human and learn, forget, learn forget. Build an internal structure and return to it again and again as the team develops.
- Relax. The next crisis is just around the corner. Another chance for you to refine your art.
Lean6
- Practice what you preach. You only sharpen your practice by using the skills. Do it, because others aren’t willing to keep that commitment.
- It comes down to teamwork. Control doesn’t work. Influence does. Your job is to support others to create the new, and when to start. What about now!
- Think. Plan. Crack on….In that order. It doesn’t have to take time. It doesn’t have to involve loads of paperwork. It does require someone to see the bigger picture.
